INGREDIENTS

  • Moong dal – 1 cup
  • Ghee – 1/2 cup
  • Sugar – 1cup
  • Milk – 2 cup
  • Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
  • Saffron
  • Almonds – 1/2 tbsp
  • Pistachios – 1/2 tbsp
  • Raisins – 1/2 tbsp

DIRECTIONS FOR MOONG DAL HALWA

Roast 1 cup moong dal in a pan on low flame until it turns golden brown in color. Let it cool down for some time and after that grind it in a blender and make a dotted powder of it.

Now heat some oil in pan and add almonds pistachios and raisin in it. Roast them nicely in ghee and after that keep them aside.

Add more ghee to that pan and put moong dal powder. Roast the moong dal powder on low flame until it became light brown in color or orange in color as you prefer. Keep on slowly stirring the powder so that it does not stick to the pan.

Boil milk with some saffron strands as this will give nice color and flavor to halwa.

Once the ghee is separated then add cardamom powder, sugar and milk in it. Stir it well and nicely until the halwa is bit thickened. Add more ghee if required.

Now add roasted almonds, pistachios and raisins into halwa and give it a good mix. You can also sprinkle some saffron stands for decoration.

Your tasty desi ghee moong dal halwa is ready. Serve it hot and enjoy. TIP: Sprinkle some roasted almonds or cashews on top they will enhance the flavor of this recipe. Better to serve after dinner.
